Get the Best Seat in the House With a Homegate

Making the most of 2020? Throw a homegate.

This fall grab your gals and throw a homegate! If you know Two Funny Girls, you know we are huge football fans. With the season upon us, we are adapting to the times and making the most of a tailgate season this year! We know things may look a bit different than previous seasons but you can still cheer on your favorite team from your makeshift home tailgate – or “homegate”. Go ahead and grab the best seat in the house – we have you covered with all your homegating essentials. Keep reading to find out how to create the ultimate homegate setup with Two Funny Girls!

What’s a good homegate without cocktails? We may be in our backyards but we can still have a good time! That’s why we recently launched our homegating roadie cups, complete with a fun green grass pattern. You can shop these cups in shatterproof, in case things get a little rowdy, or go for a disposable foam cup style. Even better? They are a perfect addition to Instagram photo ops. These homegating roadie cups are ready to ship and come in a sleeve of 10 for just $15.50!

Get this Patio Party Started!

Put our homegating roadie cups to use with one of our favorite bloggers (seriously, if you’re not following you need to!), Morgan from Host The Toast, who knows how to host a great homegate. Morgan recommends that your homegate follow the “drink rule book.” Let’s start with rule number one… making sure you have enough alcohol! Read below for how Morgan plans the cocktail portion of her homegate.

Morgan’s Drink Rule Book: Tip One

  • This one is so easy. All you have to do is figure that the average person will drink 2 drinks an hour at a party, and buy accordingly. (The average NFL game lasts 3 hours, so that would be 6 drinks per person to be on the safe side.) Just make sure that you’re also watching that your guests drink responsibly. Always make sure that your guests have a safe way to get home if they’re drinking… this is the most important rule of all.
  • Store ‘em in a cooler. No one needs the refrigerator door to be open a billion times, and it’ll prevent your beverages from getting and staying cold. Keep a couple of coolers around instead– one by the food and one by the big screen– so that your guests can easily access their drinks and the ice keeps them chilly all day.
  • Make a signature cocktail for your team with Lime-A-Rita. There’s no need to have a full bar of ingredients, but one cocktail is always a fun option, especially since a lot of people aren’t huge on regular beer. Keep your Lime-A-Ritas on hand. Did you know they make a heck of a tasty cocktail when mixed with sprite, seltzer, and a few slices of jalapeños, and then served in a margarita glass with a chili salt rim? Morgan calls it “The Rebel” because it has such a great kick to it.  Her pro tip? Add just a drop of food coloring to a pitcher of The Rebel, so it gets even greener when you serve, but it’s plenty green without it (and it would work for the Packers or Jets, too)!

Grab-and-Go Grub

Now that you’re fully stocked on the fun stuff you can make the perfect drink setup for your at-home tailgate. Add one of our cardboard coasters – complete with a fun football play design! Keep your furniture safe and stay in theme with these corrugated cardboard coasters, sold in sets of eight and measuring 4”x4” around.

Satisfy your hungry football fans and limit the crumbs with fun bites or sandwiches in our wax lined brown paper food bags. These cute food bags are greaseproof with a “GRUB” or referee print. You don’t have to sacrifice a tidy house for a fun homegate with these cute football tailgate decorations! They are a great way to keep those hungry homegaters content and your home spotless. Our wax lined brown paper food bags are sold in sets of 12 and measure  6”x 6” square.

Top off your homegate with a tailgate buffet table to assemble all your goodies. Add even more football fun to your table with our food safe wax paper squares. This waxed paper is food safe, so you can line your chip baskets while staying in the homegate theme. Our wax paper square comes in a roll of 12 sheets and measures 12″x 12”.
