Throwing a yardy. That’s just one more thing we’ll add to the list of things we never thought we’d say in 2020. This innovative hosting method is basically a party, in your yard! Perfect for partying from the comfort of home, throwing a yardy is a 2020 summer bucket list item that you’ll be excited to check off. Whether you’re throwing a birthday yardy, graduation yardy, welcome home baby yardy or even just a “we made it through the week” yardy, of course it’s necessary to have some custom party products on hand or stock up on pandemic party supplies for yardies to come. Gather your quarantine crew and stock up on summer essentials – let’s get this yardy started!
In our last blog post, we covered our new quarantine cup designs, which were voted favorites with the help of our awesome customers and social media followers! Although it may not be a typical “party”, every yardy requires a few signature quarantine cups. Most of these options are available in both styrofoam and shatterproof, so there’s an option for all of your yardy needs. We’ve included a few options that are sure to be a hit at your gathering. We’re huge fans of sending everyone home with a “yardy favor” – and these cups come in sleeves of 10 so they’re the perfect option for doing just that.
I mean, you can’t NOT laugh when filling up these 2020 cups with your favorite quarantini cocktail. Make the most of the moment by throwing these on your yardy party setup or sending home with guests for a fun cup to use at home.
Does your group have a hugger? If it doesn’t.. it may be you. These cups are hilarious while serving up a gentle reminder to keep the distance! There is a 100% chance that these appear on your Instagram feed at some point during the yardy.
If you’re hosting a yardy by the beach.. we’re expecting an invite! Our “coastal distancing” cups are perfect for hanging poolside or beachside. These are a fun and festive cup to bring as a gift to your yardy host or hostess, too. They’re available in disposable styrofoam or a reusable shatterproof plastic as well.
2020’S NOT THE ONLY THING ON THE ROCKS.
Remember that quarantini mentioned earlier? We’ve got the PERFECT concoction to beat the heat in any outdoor setting. We snatched this recipe for refreshing Pineapple Sweet Tea from Pizzazzerie and trust us, it’s just as good as it sounds! You’ll literally be sipping on summer with this sweet and refreshing recipe. TFG Tip: we recommend making ahead of time in a large pitcher so guests can self-serve.
9 cups water
1 cup sugar
8 regular-size black tea bags
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups pineapple juice
Make your simple syrup first! To do so, heat 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar to boil and stir until sugar dissolves, forming the simple syrup. Remove from heat, allow to cool and pour into a container. You can store this in the fridge while making tea.
In a large saucepan, bring 1 quart (4 cups) water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add tea bags (Pizzazzerie recommends tying strings together for easy removal later) and baking soda.
Allow tea to steep for 8-10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and stir in the simple syrup.
Pour tea in a large pitcher and add in remaining water and pineapple juice.
Garnish with fresh mint and pineapple and serve in your custom yardy cup! Make sure to snap a pic, too. These are definitely Instagram worthy!
There’s a whole new meaning to “finger foods” post-pandemic. If you’re looking for the perfect summer spread to serve at your yardy while attempting to maintain some social distancing, go with a snack board, like this one inspired by The Baker Mama! We’re big fans of allowing guests to build their own plate rather than a typical hover around the barbecue moment. We’ll save that for 2021.
Pile hearty picnic foods like sandwiches, hot dogs or sliders with grab and go snack options for easy picking. You can even build a sweets board to pair with your savory, or break up boards between kid-friendly options and more gourmet go-to’s for adults. Don’t have a board on hand? Customize one of our wood cutting board trays for the perfect foundation to your summer spread. They come in a variety of styles and sizes so you can hunt for your favorite online. These double as an amazing hostess gift, too!
If you’re looking to add a unique touch to your yardy spread, include some personalized plastic food picks as a fun (and functional) way to pick up foods or hold sloppy sliders together. These are also a great alternative for that “finger food” issue we touched on earlier! Reusable plates and fabric napkins are a no-go during your germ-free gathering, so opt for some fun disposable napkins instead. Not only is this gingham pattern on theme for a backyard BBQ, you can also add your last name or a fun quarantine saying.
Don’t send guests home empty handed! Instead, customize their own sleeve of plastic party cups or stock up on our pre-printed cups. They’re ready to ship and the perfect option for a fun last minute add-on to your yardy celebration. Pair with a mini hand sanitizer (if you can find them!) for a gift they’ll actually use. Heck, you can even throw a roll of toilet paper in there for some real added value! Again.. things we’d never expect to say this year.
Here at Two Funny Girls, we’ll always find a way to party! With social distancing in place, it’s still a great time to safely gather friends and family and celebrate with a yardy. And of course, we love seeing your creative celebrations, so make sure to tag us on social media!
