My sheets are monogrammed, so is my silverware and pretty much everything else I own. My rule is if it’s not moving, monogram it.”
-Reese Witherspoon.
We love Reese Witherspoon; she is cute, loves to tout being from the south and as the above quote says, she loves a monogram. She truly is America’s sweetheart and I got to meet her at the opening party of Draper James here in Dallas on September 28th. My dear friend Anne (who is also the faux Chief Marketing Officer of Two Funny Girls) added me as her plus one and we set out on a mission to get our photo taken with our beloved Reese.
Anne called me the day before the event with the brilliant idea Reese needed some pink monogrammed mocs from Two Funny Girls, and you know we immediately put those on the machine (after a quick google search for her shoe size). So after stressing over what to wear, I grabbed by big, black travel bag and carried the shoes with me all night. This was a really nice party, the store is a boutique, so it isn’t huge, but they had a tent with a carpeted floor and full bar, this 360 photo booth that we could never figure out what it was doing, nor could we figure out what to do with the file they sent us. #bygones.
The party was really nice, all these precious southern food served on silver plated trays and the tent was a buzz awaiting for Reese to arrive. Once she got there, we learned she was with her daughter (who looks just like her from Man in the Moon) and her husband. She was so gracious and kind to everyone who wanted to meet her. There was a small presentation of this cute art print that is in the store. We knew her time at the store was coming to an end, so Anne went up to her and gave her the monogrammed mocs, which she graciously accepted and was so attentive to Anne talking to her. And then she left. With no selfie with us!
Mission Accomplished
And then, on our way home, by a twist of fate, we found ourselves at the same restaurant in the same parking lot as the Draper James store and she took this photo with us. Its like she is the middle letter of a 3 letter monogram between two girls who love a monogram as much as she does. Bliss. Pure Bliss. Thanks Reese (bc I know you are reading this) for being just as lovely as you portray on the big and small screens. It was a treat to celebrate the evening with you. -kCa
